Welcome To Our Little Piece of History

Originally established 1892

    Historic, authentic and artisan, this boutique bakery with its traditional wood fired Scotch oven was built in the late 1890’s by Charles & Stephenson Turner. The brothers delivered their hand-made bread by horse and cart as far as Heidelberg. The bakery has been lovingly restored after being closed in the 1940’s and left vacant for many years.  In honor of its inspiring, hardworking founders we bake all our artisan breads, pies & pastries in our living, breathing, historic wood fired Scotch oven.  We maintain that Charlie’s spirit still watches over our bakers giving them gentle nudges on how to make the best authentic sourdough in Victoria. Our signature authentic hand-made sourdough is made with a mother culture or wild natural yeast that is over 100 years old. This mother culture is feed and cared for daily.  Turners sourdough not only tastes amazing -it’s healthy too, due to its long natural fermentation.
